Inspired by the island’s rugged coastline and weatherworn textures, Vici creates pieces that feel both elemental and delicate, shaped by cliffs, beaches, glens and hedgerows. She press-moulds porcelain into her own casts, then builds up surfaces with texture, oxides, glazes and touches of gold lustre. Many of her ceramic forms are wrapped in papier-mâché skins, a technique inspired by childhood memories of unwrapping Christmas decorations from soft folds of old newspaper. Her work is deeply tied to memory and story, with dream-like pieces that can resemble precious fragments or found vessels, each one completely unique.
