On working with Imvelo

Last year, when we moved Pink Seaweed moved into the Flower Building, we worked with @imvelocandleco to create a scent for the space.

We called it Thalloo. Earth in Manx.

We used the wildflower mural, the story behind it, the fact it’s the birthplace of Cushag the OG trailblazer of Manx culture and creativity. It all felt connected without needing to overthink it.

I don’t know how to design a fragrance, but I do know how to tell a story and describe a feeling. So I sent Tarryn fragments. Thoughts, images, bits of memory. Hedgerows, foraging, earth on your hands.

She turned it into a scent that sold out three times.

We’ve started working on the next one.

Grian (Sun)

Same place, different moment. Where Thalloo feels like early morning, this one is late afternoon. Everything’s had a full day of sun. The air’s a bit heavier, slightly hazy. Things slow down.

The brief this time was a playlist, and the words “heavy, worn in, thick and hazy” and “the opposite of fresh cotton”.

Add in a few giggling voice notes - that was enough.

It’s rare to find someone who works at the same creative pace. You can share something half-formed and trust they’ll understand what you meant, not just what you said.

Creativity doesn’t move in straight lines. Sometimes it’s just one person describing a feeling, and another turning it into something wonderful.
